Arrival

By plane:

Via Stuttgart Airport: There is a suburban railway which links the airport with the main station in downtown Stuttgart. To find a train connection, please refer to the train schedule of German Rail (http://www.bahn.de/) and enter "Stuttgart Flughafen" (airport) or "Stuttgart Hbf" (city center) as your city of departure. The train ride (with changeover) from Stuttgart Airport to Karlsruhe Main Station takes approximately 1.5 hours.

Via Frankfurt Airport: Some trains leave directly from Frankfurt Airport to Karlsruhe Main Station. To find a train connection, please refer to the train schedule of German Rail (http://www.bahn.de/) and enter "Frankfurt Main Flughafen" (airport) or "Frankfurt Main Hbf" (city center) as your city of departure. The train ride from Frankfurt Airport to Karlsruhe Main Station takes approximately 1 hour.


By train:

Leave the train station by the main exit and walk towards the streetcar stop. All streetcars that drive in from the left and leave to the right will take you into the city or to the university. To reach the university take the 2 to Wolfartsweier, the 3 to Heide or the S4 to Bretten/Gölshausen (oder Heilbronn). Get off at the station Kronenplatz / Universität or Durlacher Tor.  The streetcat ride from the Karlsruhe Main Station to the university takes approximately 15 minutes. By car:

From the northwest:
as described under "from the north"

From the north:
Take the A5 towards Karlsruhe/Basel and get off at the Karlsruhe – Durlach exit. Continue driving towards Karlsruhe (first exit). Follow the four-lane road until you reach the sign that says "Universität," and then turn to the right.

From the east:
Take the A8 towards Karlsruhe until you reach the Karlsruhe junction. Proceed from there towards the A5 to Frankfurt. Take the Karlsruhe – Durlach exit and continue as described under "from the north."

From the south / southwest:
Take the A5 towards Frankfurt, take the Karlsruhe – Durlach exit, and continue as described under "from the north."

If you come by car and want to drive onto the campus, please use the eastern entrance (the main entrance; see map) and ask for a permit at the gate.

However, no parking lots will be available on the campus for the participants of our conference. You can park outside of the campus (would mean about 5-10 minutes of walking time) or leave their car in the hotel and come by tram. In case somebody absolutely must park on the campus, this person should contact Dr. Stefan Linden.
